Making Sugar Pearls – Tutorial

This is a tutorial on how to make homemade sugar pearls. They are especially handy when making a pearl border around a cake.

Tools You Will Need:

Sugar Paste / Gum Paste

Rolling Pin

Round Icing Tips (Different Sizes)

Pearl Dust – (Optional)

Threading String and a Needle – (Optional)

Try to make between 10 and 20 circles at a time. This ensures that the circles do not dry out, giving you enough time to shape them into pearls.

Using different tip sizes create different sized pearls.

**Note: The thickness of the rolled out will determine how big you want the pearls to be.

The size of the pearls is also determined by the size of the icing tip you use.**

Let your pearls dry for at least 5 hours or until they are firm enough to the touch without losing their shape. You may also give them a nice sheen by placing them in a Ziploc bag and adding a little bit of pearl dust. Shake the bag to evenly coat the pearls.

Now that you have the pearls, you can use them however you want.
